Teach Students to Work Independently & Clean Up After Themselves

A Little Preparation Goes A VERY LONG Way!

I discovered this hack several years ago and still use it to this day. I purchased a Hidden Picture Puzzles Book. Then I copied the pages (the single ones) and laminated them. I have them in a bin in my art room, along with skinny expo markers and paper towels. Some students always finish first. This activity allows them to quietly hop up, choose a puzzle and clean it up when they are done. Our classroom rule is, you have to find every hidden picture and clean it up before you can get another one. This allows me the time I need to attend to students still working on the main assignment, without having to exert any time & energy into the students who want to keep moving quickly.
